Heavy Rains to Lash Gujarat, Cyclone Asna Likely to Intensify

Gujarat braces for heavy rainfall, IMD issues alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain for Gujarat as a cyclonic storm, Asna, is likely to develop in the Arabian Sea.

The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Gujarat, with some areas expected to receive up to 20 cm of rain in the next 24 hours.

The storm is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm by Wednesday evening and is likely to cross the Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Veraval on Thursday morning.

Fishermen Warned to Stay Ashore

The IMD has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off the Gujarat coast, as the cyclonic storm is likely to bring strong winds and rough seas.

The Gujarat government has also issued an alert, asking people in coastal areas to be prepared for evacuation if necessary.

The IMD has advised people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm.
