Ezekiel Elliott Returns to the Cowboys

All-Pro Running Back Reunites with Former Team

Elliott Led Patriots in Rushing Last Season

Two-time All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott has reportedly agreed to reunite with the Dallas Cowboys after spending last season with the New England Patriots. According to a report by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys and Elliott have reached an agreement on a new contract.

Elliott, who turns 29 in July, finished with 642 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 184 carries for the Patriots in 2022. Despite leading the team in rushing, Elliott's 3.5 YPC was a career low.

Elliott spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Cowboys before being released in 2022. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first six seasons in Dallas and led the NFL in rushing in 2016.

The Patriots acquired Elliott in a trade with the Cowboys last year, but he never fully found his footing in New England's offense. With the Cowboys, Elliott will have a chance to rekindle his partnership with quarterback Dak Prescott and help lead Dallas back to the playoffs.
